A man was stabbed at a BET Awards pre-show party inside Lure Nightclub in Hollywood, police confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Police received reports of the stabbing at 8:45 p.m., and a man in
his 20s was the victim. He was listed in stable condition at
Cedars-Sinai.
A security guard on the scene told KCAL9 that the rapper The Game was
in attendance but that he was not the host of the party. The station
reports that no one in The Game's entourage was injured.
The BET Awards have been marred by violence in the past. The 2012 BET
Hip-Hop Awards saw a scuffle between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy as well
as a fight between rapper Gunplay and a member of 50 Cent's entourage.
Other awards shows have also seen violence erupt. At the 2004 Vibe
Music Awards, G-Unit rapper Young Buck stabbed a man who sucker-punched
Dr. Dre. The most infamous incident occurred hours after the Soul Train
Music Awards, when Notorious B.I.G. was shot to death leaving a
Vibe-hosted after party in Los Angeles.
